Creating Ocean Literate Canadians

Playing a central role in the initiation of a national campaign to raise ocean literacy among Canadians similar in approach to that undertaken in the United States. Produced a brief proposal and have begun to engage with potential partners to raise the necessary funding to begin development of the campaign. Current partners include the researchers, managers and activists who are members of the Marine Protected Areas Working Group within the Ocean Management Research Network.

Building A Better World: Educational Multi-media Production on Inclusive Waste Management Initiatives Globally

Provision of assistance in the production of multi-media educational materials/tools to enable Canadian school children to learn about the valuable ecological, economic and social roles the informal recyclers play world-wide. EKOS participated extensively in the conceptualization of the project as well as in the grant writing.
Funding sought from Canadian International Development Agency through their Global Classroom Initiative.
