EKOS Leads Project to Update School Curriculum in the Caribbean

The EKOS team are exceptionally pleased to have been awarded a contract with the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) to update secondary learning modules to include biodiversity conservation themes.
The EKOS team will be complimented by several leading Caribbean authorities in curriculum design, including Dr. Joyce Glasgow, professor emeritus within the Faculty of Education at the University of West Indies. The project team also includes Sue Staniforth, an acclaimed environmental educator who lives near Victoria, BC, but as worked internationally.
BC Parks 100th and History Project

Using video-recordings of conversations with elders of the British Columbia’s parks movement, produce a video that promotes the upcoming 100th anniversary of the province’s parks system which happens in 2011. The video will be distributed via e-mails, websites, mp3 players, and wireless devices (cell phones, personal digital assistants such as Blackberries).

Resource Recovery: A Capacity Building Production on Waste Management Initiatives

Provision of assistance with the development and delivery of a series of workshops in Sao Paulo, Brazil designed to build capacity among informal recyclers to produce and post their own stories on the Internet using audio/visual materials. Additionally, provision of production, direction and editing expertise towards the completion of a video designed to invoke greater cooperation and support from local governments. EKOS also participated extensively in the grant writing as well.

Adapting to Climate Change in the Fraser Basin of British Columbia

Development of a private website integrating aspects of social networking with on-line forums and application of facilitated interpersonal techniques both designed to enable knowledge transfer between municipal government representatives (mayors, councilors, and senior policy-advisers), scientists and engineers concerning the adaptation of water infrastructure to climate change.
