Robert Bateman Paints For Alberta Parks
Robert Bateman is partnering with Alberta Parks and Protected Areas and the Alberta Conservation Association who share his passionate belief that real-life out of door experiences are very important for young Albertans.
In this video, he talks about why he agreed to assist with Alberta Parks's 75th Anniversary, his connection to one of the featured protected areas and his approach to painting.
- A Grizzly Bear in Rock Lake - Solomon Creek Wildland Park;
- A Woodland Caribou in Chinchaga Wildland Park;
- A Prarie Falcon in Writing-On-Stone Provincial Park; and
- A Trumpeter Swan in Saskatoon Island Provincial Park.
The paintings from which the prints will be produced will be unveiled Dec. 1, 2006 in Calgary.
The commemorative prints will hopefully "inspire Albertans to rediscover and support the need for preservation and enhancing" the province's network of parks and protected areas. The other goal is to help fund conservation education throughout the province, especially its schools. Some of the funding will also go to Bateman's "Gettoknow" program which aims to help young Canadians connect with other species.
Prints are available for purchase from any Alberta Canadian Tire Store after Feb 1, 2007.
The Commemorative Print Project is a joint partnership between:
- Alberta Conservation Association;
- Alberta Parks and Protected Areas; and
- Gettoknow
